This week you will be reading and interpreting a graph- a visual representation of data. Graphic features such as maps, diagrams, charts, illustrations, and graphs can be found in across all subjects in textbooks.  Use the following strategies to determine what information is being represented or measured in the infographic above:

  1. Read the title and headings to determine the subject.
  2. Examine the categories and labels to see if anything is being compared.
  3. Look for numerical data (numbers or percentages) and determine the relationship between the numbers and the categories.
  4. Study the pictures or diagrams to see and predict how they are connected to the subject.

Questions for reflections:

  1. According to the infographic, why does education matter? Support your answer with the data.
  2. What patterns or relationships do you see ?
  3. How does this information impact you now or in the future?

The article shows a diagram of the unemployment rate depending on what type of education you have. Education plays a great part on determining our futures. Take “Less Than a School Diploma” for example. Your future is either NO job or being a waiter at a sucky restaurant. But with the “Doctoral Degree” you will be the one with the most money. I don’t know about you, but I want to make some money when I’m older. In this article, I see how your actions in education affect your possibilities for jobs. If you don’t have a good education, you get a bad job, but if you have a good education, you get a good job and make lots of cash. In my point of view, the whole “not going to college” thing, had just been thrown out my window.

Everyday parents tell their kids how important it is to go to school and get an education. Many of them get tired of hearing the same thing and don’t listen. What they don’t realize is how much it can affect them in the future. Thinking about our future is very important at our age. In this week’s AOW, it shows the unemployment rate for certain degrees, which is higher or lower based on the degree or amount of education you get. Basically, the more education you receive the less chance you have of being unemployed you have in the future. Much like the resection, this can affect anyone and everyone.

In this article it shows you how going to school can get you a better job with more money. If you go to college longer the less percentage you have of not getting hired. Some people think that going to school is a waist of time, but in the future you will realize that all the years of going to school will payoff. If you don’t go to college or graduate high school you will have a higher percentage of not being hired anywhere. This chart makes going to college seem like your going to start school all over again.

I think that it’s a lot of schooling but, it’s worth it. To get at least a masters degree, you have to go to school for six years. I think it’s a lot. Education matters because it gets you further in life and helps you get a better job. If you do really well in school, then you could get a scholarship. Most people that don’t have jobs are no where in life, and people with an education they are somewhere in life. Education level can affect your unemployment because certain places require a full education.

The reason why education matters is because it lowers the risk of unemployment. It lowers the chance of not getting a high paying job. You will make more money if your education is good you have good grades you listen in class. Also trying your best to maintain a perfect education. If you have a doctor’s degree you will make more money then someone who has less then a school diploma. It’s best to have a degree so you can make a decent amount of money.

A lot of people have less education and don’t make a lot of money. If you want to make a salary levels of $1,555 get a doctoral degree. That means more school but also more money. This information means I need to study to be able to have money. I have to start now to be able to go to high school and to college.

Parents have a strong believe that education matters. Most of us don’t realize that it is that important. But education affects us in the future. In this weeks Aow , it demonstrates the unemployment rate and salary level. The unemployment rate shows us the rate of different degrees. Having a better education can give us a good life for you and your family. Because of this your also helping your community out.

What I thought about this article was that it was a great resource to see when you get older how much money you can get for what you do for a living.

This info graph is showing us how important school can be and where it can take you in life. There are lots of different degrees you can get by getting to college. There’s 2 years, 4 years, 8 years and up to 12 years! I believe school is practically your life. Depends on how much money you want to earn. If you want to get a really good job you should get a professional degree which is 12 years. But, if you want something simple you’ll get a high school graduate. Which won’t pay you as much as a professional.

  • luisM says:

Why education matters, Education is a really big part of every one’s life. Education helps people get a well paying job that can become a career. People that have less education like a high school diploma make about 426 dollars witch I think is a pretty decent amount of money. But with a better education and more time in school you can get a Bachelor’s Degree and the go on to a Master Degree. In order to get a Bachelor’s then you will have to attend 4 years of college and to get Maters you will have to attend 2 years with a Bachelor Degree. The money that some one would be making with a Bachelor’s is 978 dollars and with a Masters Degree you will be earning some big bucks that comes out to 1,228 dollars

The article of the week was very interesting because it explained how education can affect those who don’t care about there own education. Those who graduate on a doctoral degree can earn up to $1,555 and will be likely to get a good job. Those who have less than a high school diploma will only earn $426 and will more likely be unemployed. They may be employed but might not have a very good job. This article has inspired me to stay in school and do better in school as well as being in school.

The reason being is because the article shows the amount of money you can get paid if you have a specific education. This made me think about the education I should get if I was a nice life. This article also shows the important facts you need to know about the educational needs. This shows that education does matter in life but mainly depends on how long you go to school.

The article of the week reflection #12 was on the topic of “Why Education Matters”. Unlike previous AOW’s, we had to interpret a visual representation of data. This data proved that the higher education that you gain, the more chance of achieving a higher level of education. With a higher level of education that you gain, it helps you stay away from the unemployment rates. As represent in the graph, the higher your education is, there is a reduced chance of being in the unemployment line. The lower your education is, there is a higher chance of you reaching the unemployment line since your education won’t help get a more dedicated job. With a more dedicated job, there is a greater chance of staying away from jobs that can barely have you gain enough money to feed your family or to pay bills. Plus, a higher degree can earn you more.

  • This article shows that education is important for us. It shows how much money you can get with in your college degree. Also you can have a great job if you go to college.

Education matters because no person could be successful with out atleast a high school diploma. Now the higher degree you have the less opportunity you have of finding a job. An associate’s degree or even a high school diploma can get a higher opportunity of getting a well paid job then a person with a doctorial degree. My opinion about this is that people who have went to college for a large amount of time should have a more of an opportunity of getting a job and getting paid good money. As you can see I think people that work harder should get a better opportunity to have a better life than a person who slacks off.

  • ricardo lopez says:

education matters because with out it you’ll end up getting a job that does’nt pay very good. There are different types of degrees you can earn by going to college.Starting from the lowest ranking degree witch is assosiates degree witch does’nt pay much, and ending with the highest ranking degree witch is the professional degree witch pay suprisingly good.

When your parents tell you that you must go to school if you want a better future lots of us really don’t care but when i was reading this i realized that education does matter. Education matters because as you look at the chart you notice that it really depends on your education in order to be in a high position work. When you leave education behind it really reflects your future. Education should be taken seriously because when you go to a store and you see people cleaning you will know right away that they dint take school seriously and I highly doubt that any of us want to be cleaning a store, I suppose that all of us want to have a professional job like a lawyer or an engineer but to reach your goal education is the way to go.

The article of the week was about how education could make a big change in your life. The info graph above shows the salary that there is for the Degrees that there is. It shows that it is better to try to get the Doctoral Degree because it has the largest salary but it would take you 10 or more years to complete it. The article was interesting because it shows how much money you could win, depending which degree you would choose. This article shows a very good point of anybody’s future.

  • Adrianna H says:

This article shows a very good point of the future you will have when you do or do not take you education seriously. I think it is interesting that you can get $1,555 a doctoral degree if you go to college for 8 years. I would like to go college for that long but I would want to do other things in my future. The degree I would like to get is a master’s degree. I think that mostly every student should go to college and at least get a masters or higher for a good future. That is why our education now matters in our future.
