    What Abraham Lincoln means is that if u think about what the other person is going to say, you can be prepared and make a come back that will stump him. This is a good argument technique because it prepares you for an argument, but if you know what the other person is going to say, you can make a come back and win the argument.

    What this quote means to me is that the man is thinking about what he is going to say, and then what the guy is going to say. But to me it reminds me of like both men are in a situation, and they are going to have an arguement about this situation, but the first guy seems more nervous. What catched me more was when he was wondering what his response was going to be and then the other guys response.

This is important because then you have reasons that will go against theirs and you will win the argument with the strongest reasons.Then the counter side will not have a quick reason to go against yours.
